I'm type A and a people person. I love making an impact and and hope to leave the world a better place. Being a mom brings me so much joy. I'm grateful and fulfilled each day running Worth the Wait Charity which gives fertility and adoption grants to young adult cancer survivors.
Five sentences about what I've endured in the fertility realm...
My husband banked semen before his testicular cancer surgery and again before chemo when his cancer spread. We went to two fertility clinics and did 6 unsuccessful IUIs using fresh and frozen sperm, oral medications and injectables.
Before our final IUI, we met with an adoption agency but conceived on the 7th IUI. When trying for a second child we did 2 additional and unsuccessful IUIs and 1 round of IVF but our one embryo didn't stick. In the end our son was Worth the Wait!
One thing I wish I knew going into my fertility journey...
Advocate for yourself! My ovarian reserve wasn't great and my husband's sperm count was impacted by cancer and chemo. However, the clinics basically ignored it all and said it was unexplained infertility.
One thing about me that is forever changed because of my fertility journey...
I cherish and value motherhood every day because I remember what it took to make it possible.
One funny moment or anecdote from my fertility journey...
The injectable drugs during IUIs made me so crazy. I remember laughing and crying at the same time when watching a TV show.
One product, practice, or ritual I adopted during my fertility journey, which I have/have not kept a part of my life...
I practiced yoga before, during and after my fertility journey. I love the way it transforms my mood and body.
